I have anxiety, so bad I have passed out anxiety attacks panic attacks, etc etc.
I never used to worry about health consequences either until it turned into 30 some years.
I hid my smoking from my family, when I first started-later even my daughter, who lived with me-would quit then go back say I was still quit, use perfume sprays mouthwash etc
I am on med for anxiety- when I quit for my gazillionith time, it seemed to help me to not run back to cigs for anxiety relief. I learned about deep breathing-guided imagery too, that helped, plus I utilized my states Quitline , called them a lot they talked me through it.
Maybe a med could help ot talk to doc about that?
I wish you luck, am not hear to preach or nag, just hope that you can be able to find a way to quit without making anxiety worse, weird thing is I think smoking made me more anxious, in many ways, tho I was using them I think to reduce anxiety.
I wish you luck
finally feel somewhat "normal'
Fact...Smoking is a stimulant...it will NOT really calm you down, it just gives you a break, a time out from life's struggles.
Kiddo, you don't even like smoking and at this point may NOT YET be addicted so NOW is the time to really stop. Sweetie, you do NOT want to smoke for 37+ years and suffer from all the cigarette related diseases. Talk with your doctor, there may be a good anti-depressant that could help.
Stick close to this site. Read as much as you can from old and "Good Posts". There is a wealth of information for you and knowledge is POWER. You seem like a very intelligent young woman. Don't be dumb like me and wait 37 years to quit.
We are all here for you.....Hugs,Mayberrydeb
your family and friends probably do know or will soon figure it out. Smoking smells... it is on your hair, it permeates your skin, your clothes.. and it does suppress the appetite but it also causes tooth decay. I lost four teeth due to smoking.
like book said, talk to your doctor about what would be the best way for you to quit.
Please see your doctor about this, I'm sure you can get help for both your self image and smoking. Wellbutrin has helped alot of people with this problem (if you can tolerate it).
Stay close to here, there is alot of support and advice and wonderful people willing to help you.
