The CDC claims that nicotine is a "very addictive drug" that can be "as addictive as heroin or cocaine." Nicotine is typically eliminated from the body within 2 to 3 days, however, physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms may last for much longer depending on the individual. If you are trying to kick the habit, this community is dedicated to giving smokers the...
No point being an ex smoker if you are miserable about it because it will not last: you have to untangle how you feel about smoking to get a solid result.
JMHO obviously! I know lots of people who have read it and quit, happily, wanting to and relaxed. If you don't want to at the end of the book (and you can smoke all the way through it) then you don't have to. Nothing lost. :)
Think about how you want to quit (there is no wrong way). Do you want to go cold turkey, use Chantix, the patch, gum? Personally I favor cold turkey because you aren't using nicotine to stop puffing nicotine but many have succeeded with using NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy). The choice is yours.
Pick a quit date, then start to prepare. Come here and read the posts. There is a sub-group called Good Posts. (Go to the bar at the top of the page and click on GROUPS to find it) There is a ton of information there. Information is power. Let us know your quit date.
It's pretty normal to be nervous and scared about quitting. It's a change in your lifestyle. I'm not going to sugar coat the early days....it ain't for wimps! Keep in mind that quitting is not an event, it's a process and it happens one day at a time. We all started our quits with day one and learned how to re-train our brain to think like a non-smoker, then got comfy in our new and non-smoking skins.
We will help you with tips, things to think about and encouragement, but the job of managing your quit falls to you.
Keep posting here to let us know how you're doing. You absolutely CAN do this, you just have to WANT to stop!
Biggest thing I can say on day 7 is..... Don't give up 1 minute before the
Look forward to hearing from u. miracle happens.
I started at 27 years old and now I am paying for it with a lung disease. If you want to quit then you need to reach out to your Mom and family members who give you money.
You say you started 2 years ago, well I wonder if 10 cigarettes is really what you smoke, addicts get a fix when they need it, so I am guessing that number is not correct.
Try to remember you are going to age quicker, get wrinkles way to early in life and perhaps miss out on a lot of good times because smoking is not as acceptable any more even among young adults. That first kiss may turn off some nice young boys.
Reach out to your family or friends for help.
Does your Mom know you are smoking? What does she say? No amount of perfume, teeth brushing, mouth wash can mask that horrible smell. Only YOU can make and keep a quit. We want to help you to make that quit happen
You are so young and from your Avi, very beautiful. With so much information out there regarding the horrific consequences of smoking , dont you believe them? Are your friends also smokers? You could start a new trend. Get them on board and make a contest about who can stay quit the longest. Good luck Sweetie. Keep posting, we care
