Well....I am at the point in my life where I want to try to stop smoking again. I know all to well what is coming so I can't bring myself to try. I only smoke 8-10 cigs a day but it still does not get any easier. I attend school full time and I am afraid quiting will destroy my focus on school(yes I know its just a excuse but a valid one) I need a nudge to get started and that is where all of you come in....
I have graves disease which causes my eyes to literly swell out of their sockets. Some cases are mild but smoking causes the symptoms to be more severe which is where Im at now. If I dont quit soon I am going to look like a bull frog and that terrifys me. Funny..the smoking demon knows this but forces me to light up anyway(so stupid)

If you are here, you know something about getting started. Here is a nudge and a "you can do it." You have experience quitting, you quit for 3 years, so you know that quitting is doable. Your profile says that you used an NRT successfully in the past and used Chantix almost successfully in the past but are looking at a cold turkey quit this time. If you are really worried about the quit interfering with your schoolwork, you might want to rethink the cold turkey thing . . . it might be better for you to slow down a little and use some kind of an aid. Whatever you decide, you've come to the right place for support. Lots of us have health issues, know we need to quit, and still struggle. ALL of us know that if we don't quit, we are likely to have health issues from smoking and still struggle. We grapple with the same inconsistencies within ourselves that you are confronting. So, welcome!! You are among friends.

Thanks for the support! I would love to try chantix again but with all the meds Im on, I really don't want to bombard my body with more drugs. THat is why I am choosing to go cold turkey. I was pregnant the last time so I was thinking of the baby more than myself which forced me to quit. I hope to start trying next week if I get the nerve. thanks again~

Sorry about your desease, I had never heard of that. My tip for a nudge, devote 15 minutes every morning to this site and 15 minutes to whyquit.com. One half hour for a few days then set your quit date. Beesley's advice is all excellent and you are among friends. Welcome!!!

I have graves disease too. I Quit cold turkey this morning. Your right about the eyes, we will look like bullfrogs. I'm taking it one hour at a time. Not looking into the distant future. Maybe try just the baby steps. Goodluck.
