I am happy I am a non-smoker and reading the paper this morning. (yesterdays paper) Cigaretts are now $7.07 that may be cheap to some of you from U.K. and Canada but I was paying $5.00 before I quit. Another reason I am happy is I am sure this will add many more non-smokers to our club. In NY city they are around $9.00 a pack. They raise the tax on cigarettes to fill our states budget gap. People who choose to smoke will go to the Indian reservations where you don't have to pay tax. I will adjust my quit meter and now I will be saving more each day!!!

It's terrible isn't it.
I used to spend 5.20 on 20 cigarettes (is that around $9?)
In a club it was 6 for 16 cigarettes!!!!!!
We really should be rich now shouldn't we!!!

It is great going to the grocery store and not having that massive bill. Groceries are expensive enough without the additional $75 a week.

Ya i'm from Canada and I was paying almost $10.00 per pack. I'm saving lots! I've treated myself by buying something fun to do which i wouldn't have normally done because that money would have gone to my cigarettes. yay to me....and yay to all of you!

I still sometimes get a shock when i go to the corner shop for milk and it only costs me 1 rather than 6.20!!!!!

Good lord! Well, as luck would have it we don't need to care anymore! Yippee!! lol

In Ontario cigarettes are now out of sight in stores. Cigarettes must not be visible to customers Province-wide. Pretty weird to walk into usual convenience stores and see walls of aluminum behind the store clerks now. I would be a little more shamed if I were still buying cigarettes today. I feel bad in a way for them, but on the other hand... maybe it's just the shove a few will need to try and pack it in!

I hate to sound like..."one of those ppl" but be forewarned, once we all quit smoking and they can't collect their money that way... the government will go after the "sugar eaters" Afterall isn't obesity the next deadly sin. Just some food for thought.

LOL retropig.. i am now eating gummi bears, and sour patch kids.. I think I'll start a site for SPKD(sour patch kid disorder).. I love them.. Love the saving money, oh and saving my life.. I have realized how much time went in to smoking, espically for me, I tried to hide it alot.. The extra showers, I never went to bed w/out taking a shower. I can waer some clothing items more than once, and am using less perfume.. I am saving tons.... If thats not incentive, I do not know what else.. Oh my kids.. Yeah to us all..
