Smoking Addiction & Recovery Support Group
The CDC claims that nicotine is a "very addictive drug" that can be "as addictive as heroin or cocaine." Nicotine is typically eliminated from the body within 2 to 3 days, however, physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms may last for much longer depending on the individual. If you are trying to kick the habit, this community is dedicated to giving smokers the...
Your boyfriend is awesome.....has he considered becoming a support person for a living? LOL j/k
I know that the cravings can be annoying and that is why it is good to prepare for them....maybe get some sugar free candy?
The "other Deb" use to cut up straws and pretend like they were a cigarette....but only sucked in clean air (she even ashed like a pro...lol).
As you can see.....the cravings only last about 5-10 minutes. Drink a lot of water or suck on some candy.....or take a nap (the body is still healing).
You keep hanging in there and I so appreciate your honesty and coming here before lighting up :)
your boyfriend seems to be helping you but if he smokes, he smells and that is a trigger....so be careful.
other than that you seem to have it all together...keep it up.
He's planning to quit, too but we figured it was probably better for our relationship if we didn't do it at the same time. Murdering each other probably isn't the best way to stay together. Haha
So, when I get a handle on it, he's gonna quit.
He's my personal support person. He's the one who stood behind me when I was almost lost to depression and helped me find myself again. Love him to death.
I use to work at the local funeral home....just retired 2 years ago after a 30 year stint. Since I retired.....and not on a good note.....I can't get you a good deal for you and your boyfriend.....but I know of a good lawyer :P
I'm just saying! lol
You show that boyfriend of yours how quitting is done!!! You own it little lady :)
You are almost through hell week. Next week is heck week!
You are doing great. Do something nice for yourself for doing such great work!
Around 6-7 years ago, a dentist in California gave me a filling. Several months later, the tooth was still hurting. I came home to Missouri to get my wisdom teeth removed - it was about $1000 cheaper here - and asked the dentist to look at it. He said the filling in it hadn't been used for the last 20 years because it was known to cause this problem. Drilled it out and replaced it, but said I had more filling than tooth and it would eventually cause me problems again.
It's eventually. And I don't have dental insurance. I get to see how long I can handle tooth pain! Yay!
I don't gain weight well. I've actually lost a pound. Even though I've been eating enough to feed a family of 4 at ever meal.
Congrats on getting thru HELL week. You've come this far!!!!!!!!! So proud of you!!!!!!
I also like sugar and I have always had a difficult time gaining weight most all my life. When I get on the scale at the doctors office I try to hold my purse and keep my coat on just so I'll weigh more! LOL!
But since I quit smoking ( a little more than 2 yrs. ago) I've gained quite a bit. I'm not overweight at all but I'm about to go into the next size and I don't want to go that far. I usually keep 2 sizes in jeans or pants and most of the time I go back and forth. Altogether since I quit smoking I gained over 10 lbs. Which is good for me, actually!
Keep up the quit. After awhile it won't be the first thing on your mind. Linda :-)
