Sleep Apnea Support Group
Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep. People with sleep apnea partially awaken as they struggle to breathe, but in the morning they may not be aware of sleep disturbances.
Since it's been only a few months since your sleep study, your insurance may not want to pay for another sleep study yet. Have you had the machine itself checked to make sure it is really producing a 6? Your CPAP supplier should be able to check that quickly-just give them a call to set up a time to get it checked. I get mine checked once a year-they also can check your headgear, hoses, et. to make sure you don't have any tears, breaks etc. that would prevent you from getting the required pressure.
I have had my thyroid checked. I have two small cystic nodules on it. They are not affecting its function at this time. I see an endochronologist once a year to make sure they don't change in size or shape. Am due to see him in October.
Thanks for the advice.
The increase in energy and reduction in needed sleep time suggest that the pressure adjustment has led to better correction of your sleep apnea. That is Great!!
As a rule, adding oxygen only helps if you have underlying lung or cardiac disease that leads to chronically low oxygen levels even when awake.
OSA is a dynamic disease and most patients will need to be restudied and have there pressures adjusted over time.
