Annemarie34, Bipap machines are used for central sleep apnea which is different to obstructive sleep apnea. It's possible if you have a CPAP a straight CPAP and you have central sleep apnea that it won't work.
The question you need to ask from your Dr is, is it Central or Obstructive sleep apnea? They will be able to tell from your sleep study or depending on the machine you are using, you can tell from the data that comes from the machine. Some machines are not data capable so we can't see the data. What is the current brand and model machine you have?

He has a CPAP machine and has central sleep apnea.

Annamarie, sorry I splet your name incorrectly first time, I blame the sleep apnea.
I sent you a hug just to get the model type, I think he does have the wrong machine if he has straight central sleep apnea, he should have got a BiPap in the first place.
I have both obstructive and central sleep apnea, my machine which is an auto CPAP, fixes the obstructive and in turn I get much less centrals. Your husband is different and basically needs oxygen pumped into him when a central sleep apnea is detected thus needing a different machine, which is also more expensive.
Obstructive sleep apnea is where the throat or tongue collapses over the airway and blocks it, where central sleep apnea is where our brains tell our nervous system not to bother breathing, so opening the airway with a normal CPAP won't work. Hope that helps.

bio pap machine. Waiting for doctor to read the tests. Hoping to get the new machine soon.

Annemarie, that's good to hear, hopefully now he has the right machine, they basically work the same way as his last machine this time it give him oxygen as he needs it

My husband still having problems on the bio pap machine. He had another home sleep test. He had an appointment with the doctor in a couple of weeks. The doctor said that is brain is doing something that is keeping him a wake. Anyone ever had this happen?
