I have a question ...
I own my CPAP machine and my oxygen condenser machine. Do I need insurance? The company my isurance used to ultimately purchase the machines said I could continue with them for maintenance and parts for a fee of around $150 every 6 months (I think). It has been a while since I talked with them. I am no longer with the same insurance, went to an HMO now and am not sure if they would pay for anything towards my equipment. I suppose I could just have my doc order CPAP and oxygen through my HMO and find out what they would cover, as if I was new to it all, but somehow that doesn't seem right to do that. Or, I could call the HMO and explain everything and see what they want to do. Hmmm... confusing, right?
Is insurance even necessary? Does it cost much for parts, etc? Anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

I had a similar thing myself- I got my old machine when I was on my husband's PPO insurance and was having problems with it, but now I'm on Medicare. The gals at the CPAP supply company thought I'd have to wait until it had been 5 years since n I got my old machine, but Medicare covered a new one as Medicare had not provided the previous one. I'm using my shiny new machine & feeling much better!
ask about insurance as household contents insurance, its cheaper
damage is often caused by not cleaning air intake filter and picking up CPap WITH humidifier chamber not empty
