Sleep Apnea Support Group
Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep. People with sleep apnea partially awaken as they struggle to breathe, but in the morning they may not be aware of sleep disturbances.

Hello, I have just been diagnosed and have not yet gone for my CPAP sleep night. I am very confused by my results. I was asleep for 195 min. in that time I had 136 hypopneas, 1 obstructive apnea and 2 central apneas...12 RERAs. My AHI was 42.66 My arousal index was 44.8...I had 146 arousals. my RDI was 46.3 REM RDI 28.1, supine RDI was 31.4, average length of obstructive events was 19 sec. for both REM and NREM sleep.
My diagnoses was OSA. My biggest concern are the Central apneas... that does not sound good... Now I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia that came last year. I have been telling my Drs that I do not believe that... and have been looking for something else to be wrong with me. Due to some of the things that have been happening to me I went on my own and made an appointment to a Neurologist ... Now after getting the results of this sleep study I am more convinced I need an MRI of my brain...Central apneas don't just happen... something is not right and I told these Drs I needed the MRI and got nothing... one said she would refer me to the one I wanted to go to but that was well over a month ago and I have heard NOTHING... but I went on my own and called a different Neurologist...this was all before this sleep study all because I know that what I am experiencing is NOT normal...and I highly doubt it to be Fibromyalgia... I also refuse to allow my Drs to ignore my screaming for other tests. Maybe now they will listen. If not .... then I guess I will fire them and find someone who will listen to me and not look at me as someone who has Fibromyalgia. Take that out of the equation and listen to what is happening to my body. Even if I do actually have Fibro... I CAN also have something else!!!! Ok I was ranting... Rant over.

Welcome bamabell, I know how you feel and your not ranting, we all have to find out the answers and it sounds like your on your way. Sleep Apnea is one of the causes of fibro so you may have it but the cause is sleep apnea. I had similar symptoms as fibro aching arms and legs etc but was not diagnosed with it, since being on CPAP 4 years ago all the symptoms lifted. You will feel like a new person when you get your CPAP, please ask any questions and good luck, I hope you find the treatment you have been looking for :)

I had sleep apnea very bad, which also included very bad snoring. I was on CPAP for over 6 years! You really get used to it. Just be patient and you will be fine! I also got a snoring device that was FDA approved from the internet (http://www.snorebore.com/) worked very well, now my wife is no longer mad at me, when I didnt even know why lol.
