Sleep Apnea Support Group
Sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep. People with sleep apnea partially awaken as they struggle to breathe, but in the morning they may not be aware of sleep disturbances.
Thanks for all your advice. I'll keep you up to date on what's going on with my Sleep Apnea.
Any degree of sleep apnea can be dangerous. Now that your doc knows you have it, he wants you using CPAP ASAP.
When you get your machine, if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. That's what family is for.
With all due respect to keeska, I have to just say that getting used to using a CPAP is difficult for some, but quite easy for others. It is different for everyone. Some adjust within a week. I did. Others can take up to a month or two to adjust. One key factor in adjusting is attitude. The sooner you accept the fact that using a CPAP is vitally necessary to your health and well being the sooner and easier it will be to adjust.
You will have lots of questions once you've seen your doctor, so don't hesitate to come here and ask. We're more than happy to help any way we can!
Sleep apnea is a killer. If not treated, there are long term damages done to your body. I've had a CPAP for over 10 years but I'm not embarrassed to admit I'm still having trouble. I'm going to a new sleep doc soon and hoping for better answers as to why I'm so tired all day. Everything in it's time. Just relax and strap it on and give yourself a pat on the back for saving your life!
