tape mask to face so the pain will remind you to leave mask in place, mask is often removed when mostly asleep
Harry's tape idea is a great one. Then if it comes off, it will wake you up so you can re-seat it.
Fingers crossed for you dear.
I have two ideas for you. I have utilized both of them because starting CPAP was so foreign and difficult for me.
First, practice wearing your mask during the day, unhooked from the machine, while perhaps reading a book or watching TV. The more you wear it, the more your body gets accustomed to the mask on your face.
Secondly, think about purchasing a headgear with the Velcro piece on the very top of the headgear mask. Then, put the headgear on first followed by your mask. The mask strap can then be secured to the Velcro strip on the top of the face mask. This will keep the mask from slipping off your face.
And, you will gain a secondary benefit as the headgear will help keep your mouth closed while you sleep so you don't mouth breath. Therefore, it opens the option of using nasal pillows.
Good Luck!
