New to the forum. On Edudex almost 3 weeks

Hi all. 


My name is Lauren. I've been using Edudez on the back of my neck all the way down my back to my underwater line and then my entire left arm down to my knuckles. 


On Tuesday it will be 3 weeks. I haven't had a huge reaction yet but I've read that these areas are slower to react. Today has been harder in that I'm very itchy and uncomfortable. I had a punch biopsy on my forearm and back. Both were positive for actenic changes but not bcc or scc so thankful for that. 


I have a lump in my right armpit that I'll have a core biopsy done on tomorrow. Apparently I have 4 swollen lymph nodes in both armpits and they are teying to find out why. I'm not really scared at this point. Whatever it is, I'll get through it. 


I jsut wonder if anyone else has used Efudex on these areas and if it took this long for reactions? I will continue treating for four weeks and then have a few weeks to heal then start my face.

Hi, welcome....I can't comment as I don't know what Edudex is. I do want to say that I hope you have good results on your biopsy tomorrow.

Thank you! I spelled it incorrectly. Efudex is a topical chemo treatment commonly used for pre cancers and/or cancers not needing surgical intervention.

Yes, I have had to use Efudex twice now. I was not impressed. It took out the topical pre cancers but it did nothing for the Dermis layer and did not kill any cancer cells in that layer or the Hypodernis layer. I had to undergo 19 surgeries to remove all the cancer that grew while I was wasting time using Efudex.

Hi there. Sorry I’ve not been on this site for sometime.
My biopsy went well and it turned out that all I needed was the Efudex treatment. I used it literally all over in stages. It was super painful but worked! I was inspired by a gals blog who has used it in a similar way. If anyone’s interested, here’s the link to her site:

I took a break last year and then used it again this year. So far I’ve done my face, neck, chest and stomach. All had less reaction than the first time and since I knew what to expect, it was less scary. I think Efudex isn’t for everyone but if you can tolerate the process, I recommend it. My father in law did it on a smal area at the back of his knee and was NOT a fan
