I had surgery, and the scar was shocking to me, although everyone else thought it looked just fine.
I was so upset about the scar that I went off on my dermatologist when I went back to see her.
She explained it to me like this: "You have traded your cancer for a scar. That's a good trade"
I must admit, it made me feel better.
My scar looked really bad for awhile, but the more time goes by, the less noticable it is.
A little foundation or powder, and it doesn't look bad at all.
Anytime we can trade cancer for a scar, it's worth it.
I have to go back soon and have it checked again.
I don't let it worry me anymore. It's something I just have to live with.
We all have something that we have to live with. At least basal cell cancer is very manageable.
I figure it could be something much worse. I try to count my blessings, and keep my dermatology appointments.
