Just to let you know, it is RARE that someone dies from SCC. So, that is something you dont need to really worry about. The cases when it can be deadly is when it is on a person face and literally has waited so long to be addressed that it eats away the skin and goes into the brain. SCC is far different than MM. It is also not common for the SCC to come back in the same place if the margins were done properly. From what you described, it sounds like you have an infection or the healing of the sx has caused something funky to go on. Plus, being on your finger causes you to bump, use, irritate the sx area easier than if it was on another place on your body. You are prone to more SCC so it is smart that you are having the other area that looks suspicious checked out. It may be SCC or it may not. Not everything that looks weird is skin cancer and in my case, not everything that looks normal, is not skin cancer (melanoma in my case).
Lastly, it is ALWAYS a good idea to have two seperate pathologists check your biopsy. My most recent melanom in sita came back negative for any cancer cells at all. The second path report, done at UCLA came back as melanoma in situ. My derm always sends my biopsies to two places. One being a melanoma specialist (UCLA). You can never be too careful when it comes to melanoma cancer. But, again, SCC is a totally different ball game. Rarely does it spread to the lymph system or cause death. That is something that you can put out of your head. Your doing everything you should do. Good for you!
Hang in there and keep us posted.M
