I got the courage to see the Dr. and not surprisingly, he felt he had to do a biopsy. I was hoping that this would not happen but I also knew it wa a strong possibiiity. It's hard to believe but the biopsy was done on a section of my finger that I already have had Mohs surgery for a squamous cell cancer. I thought it couldn't come back but maybe it has. The Dr. said it might be just an infection. I wonder though why an infection? What could cause that? I was sick to my stomcach most of today worrying about it. They took quite a large piece of the area on my finger that actually is my arm due to the skin graft. Great! I can barely cope with the thoughts when I look at my finger. It's really my arm I'm looking at. Now if I have cancer again I'll end up with another part of my body resting on my finger.
My husband keeps telling me that at our age we should only focus on staying healty and not worry about scarring etc etc. I understand that but it doesn't help me with the nerves and depression I have.
The depression seems to come and go throughout the day. I have many many things that trouble me. When I start thinking of losing my sister I get very depressed. I am so sorry for rambling. It does help though to type what pops into my head.
I could never discuss all I write with anyone but somehow I can type and whom ever reads this understands and is supportive. I thank each of my friends on DS for the support.
Ouch! my finger hurts now. I guess the freezing meds have worn off. I has started itching already. I'm supposed to leave the bandage on for two weeks.
Good night. I am going to try and sleep a little tonight.

I know the anxiety that goes along with skin cancer (I had Melanoma) and there is nothing anyone (except the doctor) can say to make that anxiety/fears go away....If this is Squamous cell, then try to be thankful that its not malignant melanoma which is much harder to treat. It seems that there is a good possibility that it is squamous since you already had it on the same finger. And, I do agree with your husband, scars are so minute in the relm of life....Whats important is that you will be able to live life. I have many scars that cannot be covered up. I now wear them as a badge of courage....Try to look at it that way when you start to feel bad about the way your finger/arm looks.
I suffer from anxiety/panic disorder along with depression. If you feel that these issues are affecting you physically (which is not good for your health), maybe you should consider trying a medication for anxiety & depression..I cannot function without being on Paxil. I hate feeling the way I felt before I started taking this medicine. Having health problems can be very depressing and cause severe anxiety for some people.
