When is your next skin doc checkup? I think it would be OK to wait for your next checkup and ask about the spots at that time, if they are even still there. However, if you look at the spots every day and worry about them as most of us would, I would go and have them checked just for the peace of mind. I understand the cost issue, but peace of mind is worth a lot of money sometimes.
My 2C: PREcancerous growths once removed are gone, done and finished in terms of any health concerns.

I personally would NOT spend the money at this time for any follow up that the doctor hasn't suggested is necessary. What you could do is call doc's office and ask to speak to a nurse. tell her what it looks like and ask her your concerns. Nurses are very knowledgeable and would know if it is anything to be concerned about and what to expect in terms of healing time.
Actually, my Mohs surgery, with a new lower eyelid went back to a normal color of skin sooner than lesser surgeries.
