Hi all! I was diagnosed with melanoma 10 days ago. They don't know if it has wandered to cause mischief elsewhere or not yet. Went to Johns Hopkins for the pre-op consult. They said I had 2 out of 6 parameters that were not good. It was 2.5 mm thick and they like to see it at 1 mm. Then they said there were some sort of cells that were very active and I can't for the life of me remember what they were called. Waiting to schedule the surgery and move on. I had to do tx for hep-c and cleared that about 2,5 yrs ago. It was the triple tx with interferon. I really dont want to make that trip through hell again but hey I will do what I need to do to beat this thing! I was on here for my tx and it really helped me to get through a VERY dark time.

I am angry as I have felt better than I have for 35 years! I now ride bikes 100- 200 miles on the road and as much on the mountain bike as possible and I don't want to loose that. I have 2 beautiful g-babys I am helping to raise, They still need me here! Am trying to not get too up in a tree but sometimes it ain't easy!

Anyways thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis Bill. This is a slower group but I wanted to pop in and tell you I'm thinking of you and hope and pray you get good news. As you know 2.5mm is a large melanoma and there's concern with that large of a melanoma that it has spread to the lymph nodes or beyond. But, you can't get ahead of yourself. You are under great care at Johns Hopkins and now it'll be a matter of staying on top of what you have to do. Unfortunately, interferon is used for melanoma as well but, you have to do what you have to do to beat this BEAST!

Keep on keeping on Bill. You'll kick the beast's a$$ and be around for your grandbabies for many years to come...I just know it!

Thanks redhead! I think I will also. Just a bit scary ya know. Not afraid of outcome but am afraid of what comes between finding out and the outcome, which ever way it goes.
