Sjogren's Syndrome Support Group
Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
The other night I noticed I was seeing large rainbow colored halos around streetlights. I'm on Plaquenil and noticed that the information pamphlet I have on it says to report this to your doctor. I saw my ophthamologist today and he said everthing looked ok and doesn't believe it is from the Plaquenil, but has still arranged for me to have another field vision test to be sure. He said it is possible that the halos may be an early sign of cataract formation but said it is too soon to say for sure. I've only been on Plaquenil for 4 months. I suppose it could be early signs of cataracts but suddenly seeing halos and being on Plaquenil seems like quite a coincidence to me. Could I get some thoughts about this please?
On another note, had the punctal plugs put in. Had good and bad experiences with them. In fact, I think I will go ahead and make a new post about it now since I have questions.
