Hello all, I am new here but was reading through some of the older posts. I have Sjogrens as a secondary part to my RA.I am currently using Restasis and it seems to be holding me over for now. But I am right on the line as to how dry my eyes are and how dry they have to be to becaome terribly inflammed and red. I have had 6 attacks in the past 10 months where my eyes have become red and swollen and it seems is is just from them being so dry that they become susepticle to infections. Has anyone had anyhting sismilar and what was the treatment for it? Any advice would be great....thank and have a great day!

I have the restasis drops also but my eye doc also suggested flax seed oil (gel capsule). The flax seed works pretty well for me so I dont use as much of the drops.

My Gp told me to ask the rheumy about Restasis because my eyes are now in the party of SS along with my mouth, lol. Some mornings I wake up and my eyes are stuck closed.

I would like to hear how it works for you...keep us posted. hugs jilly

I use 1200 Fish oil twice daily and Flaxseed 2400 in the AM and another 12 at night.
Vitamin E once in the AM and
Evening Primrose oil once in the AM. I also use lethicin, niacin and gelatin in the AM.

I use Amlactin 12% lotion for severe dry skin and for hands and feet; I add Urea cream 40%.

Recentlywas perscribed Salagen. This is helping my eyes and mouth a lot. It's only 5mg and I am considering asking the doc for an incease of the dosage.

Have you considered getting pucntal plugs. I have Sjogren's as a secondary to lupus, and my ophthalmologist recommended punctal plugs for my dry eyes. I've had them for a little over a year now, and I'm very happy with them.

I tried Restasis but it did not work at all for me...I have had my tear ducts cauterized...and use bottle upon bottles of Gen teal eye drops....I also have Sjrogren's second to RA

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
