Sjogren's Syndrome Support Group
Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
At night I have to bundle up in my layers and two below 30 degree sleeping bags over me, a hat, and sometimes gloves. At some point in the night (usually hours later) I warm up enough to shed some.
I always found it ironic, because I'm fat. I freeze freeze freeze. My body temp ranges from 95.9 to 98.9. Though I tend to get fevers a lot too.
Before 2006 my steady temp was 97.9.
Anyway, yes. I freeze.
I have read the Sjogren's can affect the hypothalamus of the brain....and that's where your brain decides to set and control body temperature. I have suffered both hot & cold temperature swings since Sjogren's has affected me. When I'm cold, I can't seem to warm up unless I take a very hot bath. When I'm too hot, I just sweat over the littlest effort. Frustrating.
Try drinking hot tea and getting in the tub.
