Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva. It also associated with rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and it is rheumatoid factor positive in 90 percent of cases.
Has anyone had the experience of going to get your medications and being told that the medication is not "formulary" and will not be covered?
This has happened to me several times. Ristasis....not covered. Cymbalta.....not covered!! Medications that I so despirately need are not covered and I am so frustrated with my insurance company right now.
I pay good money out of every pay to have coverage. Once I even yelled at someone from the insurance company saying "so I can pay taxes for people on wellfare to get the same medication that I can't afford myself....doesn't seem fair does it?" Her calm response ~ "well that's life".Meanwhile, every day of MY life is spent in pain with the fear of losing my vision and my livelyhood beacuse of a disease I did not ask for nor want!!
I am sure if some high government official with their hands in the drug company was blessed with our disease, you better bet they would be getting their medication for free. But us poor schmucks have to sit by and wait for the drug companies, insurance companies, and government officials to do something to help us.
There has to be something we can do about this!! My rheumy wrote a letter to the drug company explaining my need for Ristasis and Cymbalta and they still refuse to cover it. They say if I "really" need it I would find a way to pay for it. OK, so you work full time, feed three growing kids and put clothes on their back, pay a mortgage and a car payment and pay for your medications and see how far you get.
Like I said, I pay good money out of every pay for health insurance. Then I go to the pharmacy and have to pay even more out of pocket for medications. They are getting richer and we are getting poorer. Why should we have to make the choice on whether to get our medications this month or buy groceries? And what happens when we can't work any more? Then what?
Sorry. I just get so frustrated that people are permitted to abuse the system and live a better life than those of us that have more than payed our dues. Our government has turned a blind eye to those abusing the system but put heavy sanctions on those of us that are making an honest living but struggling due to a chronic disease.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Your frustration with the inequity of working folks bearing the brunt of costs for people who do nothing isn't new with you. I suspect many of us feel that way. My take on paying for drugs is that I'll probably be working to afford co-pays for meds until I'm 80!

Every year they pay less .....it was in FULL. (after deductibles) now its a copay. You can get addon insurance for prescriptions. $$.
We have GREAT insurance. Wife is a ER/RN 25 yrs...so bennies are good but shrinking.
BTW , Land of the FREE doesn't mean free stuff. Means FREE to pursue life, liberty and happiness.
