How dry is your mouth?

I was told a few years ago that my symptoms (I have neuro, joint, muscle, heart, intestinal symptoms).. may be caused by sjogrens, since my markers were elevated, but I thought, well my eyes and mouth are dry, but not THAT dry.. so I really didn't think sjogrens fit

The last few weeks I have become more dry... at times it's hard to swallow at all since my tongue sticks to the dry roof of my mouth.. my eyes are gritty and dry.. burn too.. and other areas have also been more noticeably dry.. but other times I feel like I have plenty of saliva in there.. My tongue will crack and bleed... but again, i Feel like a lot of the times I have saliva in my mouth even when my tongue feels dry... anyhow, I was just curious how that compares to others..

I understand completely, but that is the nature of the syndrome. Last summer my mouth and throat were so raw I went to an ENT dr. positive I had an infection but no I was just dry. Right now I seem to have plenty of saliva but tomorrow may be total different. I just keep sweet tarts and things like that in all my pockets and carry around a water bottle no matter the weather or where i go.

So dry I could cough dust. The coughing that goes on right after I wake up is similar to the violent cough of a smoker....and I gave that up a year ago.

My mouth dryness is not as bad as yours, but it really is bad when I wake up in the middle of the night choking. During the day my throat will dry up and I start choking. People think that I have something stuck in my throat. Tears run down my eyes & I turn red. Not pretty. I have Biotene spray in my purse, which helps quite a bit. I'm now using the Biotene toothpaste, which helps a lot at night, plus the mouth wash.

Yes I am dg with Sjorgen and dry mouth and dry eyes. I have a job that I have to talk a lot and that only drinking water helps. On top I have thrush on my mouth that makes it even worst. Now I have to diet no carbs at all, very limited food selection, no acids etc. I have to use the refresh drops as much as possible (every 2 hours at least) and than my humidifier at home is at high level. At best the humidity in my home is 53.
I have also purchased a humidifier for work to keep air as moist as possible.
It helps to share experiences and not feel alone!

Thank yall for your replies! and Ugh.. i do the choking thing as well!!! It's hard for me to clear my throat sometimes.. but yes, I wake up choking on my dry mouth all night! Not to mention my eyes are stuck they are so dry.. I need to try the biotene I guess!!!

I've started using TheraBreath. The Biotene leaves my saliva thick and didn't work that well for me. I tried the TheraBreath on a whim and it's working great thus far. Been through one bottle.

I use Biotene spray - keep it under my pillow so I can grab it during the night. I also chew Mentos gum (comes in the ribbed container about 3" high) because it contains xyletol and that increased saliva production - and its sugar free!
One other thought, are you on blood pressure medicine? I've learned so many people get a dry, nasty cough due to their BP meds.

Yes, very dry mouth and do use the Biotene spray at night before or after I put my mouth bridge in. Since I had tooth implants, I musn't grit my teeth at night.

Am always chewing gum. Any kind and it doesn't look "ladylike" but what can you do, tongue sticking to roof of the mouth is most unpleasant.

I wish there was a cure for this and for fibromyalgia too. Seems like there's more research going on. Maybe in my own lifetime? How difficult can this illness be? and yes, it hurts all over.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
