I do get eye pain, but I'm not sure if it's from allergies, sinuses or what??? Good question. I started out going to the doctor's office because of sinus and eye pain which they still haven't addressed since I first went a year ago.. lol But then again, what did I expect??? They found Sjogren's instead but still never addressed the sinus and eye problems. They did though, check out every other part of my body except for the parts that were giving me the problem. Go figure... If you find out though, I would be interested on hearing about it. Hugs, Kristy

Last year I had extreme eye pain and I knew something wasn't right, so I went to the ER and it turned out I had an ulcer on my right cornea. I was put on anti- viral drops and it cleared up in a week. They said they caught it in time, but sometimes it leaves permanent damage if you don't treat it right away. They said that if it ever happens again to seel treatment immediately. It felt like glass in my eye and my eye was constantly watering.

I have had eye pain where it feels like something is poking my eye. My opthamologist said lubricant eye drops. Refresh liquigel. also he said take omega three and us a humidifier. I can tell you the plaquenil, eye drops are helping a good deal. I had just started vit d and the plaquenil so I didn't want to add the omega 3 right away but will be starting it next week. Best of luck to you with it. This dryness stuff SUCKS!

I also have this my eyes seem to ache and they do get fatigued just like you mentioned. But the only way I can describe it is my eyeballs ache. Don't think this is from the dryness, that is more of an irritation.

i get eyeball pain too...its very uncomfortable.....i have to close them and sleep.....

Hi! Apparently i do not have Sjogren's since my antibodies came back so low but I do have a lot of the symptoms so i don;t know what exactly is wrong and why I have the symptoms that I do.
However, this post caught my eye, no pun intended...and I felt the need to reply anyway.
I have a lot of eye pain. BUT I have a history of an orbital Pseudo Tumor of my right eye. I am not saying that any of you do have this BUT I am saying you should take it seriously when you have eye pain or odd symptoms!
My right eye was getting bigger and harder and would pop open by itself when I was sleeping. I complained to my doctor ( at the time..now I have a diff dr) and she did nothing. She blamed sinuses after awhile and well, i thought maybe it was sinuses too at some points.
I even saw an eye dr and told him and he did nothing!
I also noticed an odd change in my vision when I would look down.
Anyway, I used to take a lot of pictures of myself ( sounds vain I know but any new hairdo or hair color i would take a photo of and in hind sight I am so glad I had those pictures!)
I decided to see a new doctor ( for a variety of reasons) and brought the pictures with me. He ordered an MRI immediately! I think I had it the next day and was in an eye drs office that afternoon.
Long story short, I had an orbital pseudo tumor and the rt eye was MUCH larger than the left eye.
I started getting headaches, double vision and eye pain and a lot of ther problems soon after that as the eye kept growing.
They tested me for Graves disease by the way which can lead to eye bulging but that was negative.
I was put on steroids by a specialist and well, my life has never been the same.
My story gets much more complex so i will stop at this point...
PLEASE be sure to get the problem PROPERLY diagnosed! And IF you do not feel you are getting the right answers seek out another opinion!!!

Well, I know I just posted a reply yesterday about getting eye pain checked out..and today I am here to say it again!
I had a stat MRI on Wednesday and yesterday found out I have fluid on my optic nerve sheaths and they are diagnosing it as a Pseudo Tumor Cerebri ( not another orbital pseudo tumor)...UGH!
So I have to go back to the opthamologist ( she specializes in neuro-opthamology)...
So if you have eye pain ( I actually did not even mention my eye pain as I have had that on and off for over 2 years now, but I did mention headaches)PLEASE look into it!

Yes, i have dry eyes and use drops..but i also have the eye pain as you mentioned. It is hard to explain the feeling. It usually hits my left eye the most. At work when it gets real bad i have to keep it shut with a tissue and a piece of tape. I'm on a computer all day and there is no time to rest it. My boss freaks out when she sees me using ony one eye. I'd like to tell her off but i won't stoop to her level of rudness. I keep the fact I have SJS private from my co-workers :) thanks everyone for all the great posts on this web site and the wonderful support you all give to each other! :)

Thanks everyone for your experiences in this. My eye pain seemed to start when I had them dialated about a month ago. When the drops were put in my eye, my eye just seemed to zap tight and completely dry. The muscles just don't seemed to have recovered from that. It was like they were stretched (i guess from the dialation) and the muscles still hurt from it. I am definetly going to mention the pain to my doctor. Thanks everyone and have a great day!

I may be wrong but I think SJS stands for Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and not Sjogren's Syndrome. Also, you do not need a positive ANA test to be diagnosed with Sjogren's. The reason doctors seem to blow us off, in my opinion, is that they don't have any answers and they are trained to CURE people. Their egos will not permit them to say "There is no answer to your problems" so they turn it back to you, leaving you with the distinct feeling that you are doing something wrong! "Use baby shampoo more often" yet failing to tell you to dilute it 1 part baby shampoo to 10 parts water (ate my hide off one summer with that one). "You should be using Restasis" (after trying that 3 different times, I found that the only time it burned were the 12 hours leading up to the next dose!). I could go on, in 22 years I've been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, cytomegalovirus, chronic Epstein-Barr, carpal tunnel, dry eye, hypothyroidism, depression and finally Sjogren's which basically covers all of it. The biggest insult over the years, about 5 years into the quest, after explaining to a rheumatologist that I had been diagnosed with institial and fibromyalgia, he replied "are there any other wastebasket diagnoses you would like to tell me about?" The runner up was recently, by the endocrinologist that I USED to go to, "There are the truly sick and then there are the worried well" Sorry for the long rant on this topic, my eyeballs scream on a regular basis and yes, the scar tissue is destroying my eyesight.
