I'm going to Chicago for the sjogren seminar in October. Hopefully will find more information from there. I'm taking a bus down there and it only cost me $50 for three of us roundtrip. It is an 8 hour drive for us. Not too bad. I will post something if I hear anything new.

I have also been waiting for something good to come out of all the "studies" that are being done.
I had emailed the John Greene Center at Johns Hopkins to see if they have any news yet. They don't really have a media person on staff to send out any new results. I suppose it's too early for them to have anything yet anyway.
I have set up a Google account so that when anything new hits the web on Sjogren's I get notified. Sometimes it's news to me, other times it's not.

The nearest SS support group is over an hour's drive plus it's always during working hours. In order for me to attend, I would have to take the whole day off. Since I am already taking hours here and there for multiple doctors, I don't feel that I should push my luck with my boss. Anyway, because there isn't anything locally, my only source of info is the internet. I look forward to hearing anything you learn at the October seminar.

There are lots of studies being done now on autoimmune disorders. Most of them are highly specific research on molecular mechanisms and hard to summarize. Much of the research seems to be looking at incomplete digestion with the immune system activating against the strange new peptides. But there are other explanations being examined as well. You might look at the brand new "Sjogren's Book" by Daniel J. Wallace - I haven't seen it yet, but the old edition summarized research to date pretty well.

I also live in the northwest (near Seattle) and the Sjogren's Foundation is pretty active in getting support groups organized. I went to one last month and met my first Sjoggies face to face.
