Sixtysomethings With Anxiety Community Group
This is a group of 60 and over who are suffering with anxiety and approaching their retirement years. You are welcome to share your experiences and dispense/receive advice and support.
I have attended NAMI meetings regularly for 20 years now. Sometimes I a reticent to bring up issues that are age specific for fear of influencing the young members. There are many mistakes I made when I was younger but I do not regret the, at times, carefree life I had.
To introduce myself to others here. I have been fortunate to have had the task of volunteering put in my path. I visit local hospital, up to 3 times weekly, to talk to ICU step down patients. I offer free magazines and puzzle books but mostly a listening ear. Infirmed pataients frequently are dealing with a lot of anxiety. My good fortune has been offering advice to them that is also beneficial to myself. Although I am not particularly religous I like to think that there was a higher power that put this task in my path. Too much time on my hands is bad for my anxiety/depression.
