Single first time mom and new to the group

Hi, I joined this group because I need support and advice to try and navigate this single parenting lifestyle. I currently have a 2.5 year old girl. Me and her father broke up over a year ago. We were together for 8 years off and on. He has been wanting to get back together with me but I do not feel like it would be best since all we do is fight and we don't get along well. Currently, he has been making me feel like I am a bad mom with his comments. He is using our daughter in his comments like "well you could spend everyday with her If you chose me and if you want to miss half her life then that is on you". Of course I would love to spend every day with her and not split time with him but I just don't think we are meant to be. It has been really hard having no one to go to about this. I just am trying to provide the best life for my daughter and he thinks I'm only thinking about myself.

First, congratulations on leaving what sounds like a toxic relationship with your ex. Good you got out. Second, don't pay any mind to his emotional blackmail or guilt trips, cus that's what he's doing and it's toxic as hell. Stay true to your truth and get counseling and be the best parent you can be when your daughter is with you. Be the best you when you're with her, and pay no mind to what his needs are or his skewed logic. He thinks he's talking sense, but its all just manipulation and barking in the wind. Keep your conversations with him short and civil and unemotional. Don't give him an edge to enable him to get you down to his level or to sink his hooks in you, emotionally or physically. Just stay true to yourself and your truth, and be the best mom you can be and be the best you for yourself.

I'm also a single mom with a 3.5 year old, and I know what you're going through. I just joined this forum today looking for support because even after 3 yeaes of being separated from my ex, he still does his best to try to bring me down...What helps is if you can find a way to take care of yourself and keep that man at a very long arms length. Setting boundaries and learning more about what triggers you and recognizing when he's playing manipulative games or trying to bring you down.
