I've been trying for so long to try and get him to have a good relationship with my son but unfortunately he's not looking to change, grow up and be responsible. I'm just gonna focus on my kid and myself. At this point I'm tired of being the one who tries and makes any effort. I've been raising my child on my own for quite some time now and ima continue to do so with or without him.

If he does not want involvement and he has addictions and has not grow up why do you want him in your son's life and in yours for that matter?. He wont be a support for you as he is not right now. You have giving him opportunities to be in touch but he does not appreciate that, Then appreciate your time with your child. You are only responsible for your relationship with your child.

Maybe he will change and will cherish that relationship but now is you and your son. Your ex walked out of your life. Take it from someone who is struggling with "coparenting" with a person that wants to be in my child's life but doesn't give a damn about the how, that does not give a damn about me as a mother and takes my child to play happy family with current girlfriend. Unfortunately, I do not have any more words of advise for you other than enjoy what you have, it could be worst.

Trust me I do not want this guy in my son's and my life. I had a moment where I allowed him and other people to make me feel bad about my decision to remove him from our lives. I definitely won't make that mistake again believe me. I ended up seeing him Wednesday for child support court. My younger brother watched my son while I was at court. Which I'm grateful for because my ex decided to be aggressive and hostile. He was very rude to the mediator not to mention he's own mother. He was yelling and swearing. Caused a scene while I was having a chat with his mother. Kept approaching us all hostile like. Honestly seeing this side of him that I have never seen before terrified me. It was like he had so much hatred towards me. I don't want to be anywhere near him. I have to go back to court with him in August. This is the second time he acted like this but this time it was a lot worse. I'm afraid that it's only gonna keep getting worse. I'm gonna tell the office of child support that I do not wish to be in the same room as him. I honestly do not want to feel the way I did again.

Be strong! I guess we need to grow a thick skin. I went through the same, although is shocking at first, soon you realize that it may be the way is going to be for a while.

Take all the measures to protect yourself, document everything!!!!, it may help you in the long run. Also, there are organizations that help with domestic violence, they have programs that can assign people to go with you to court. All the best!

I'm trying to be. I just hate how he's acting and treating this like it's my fault somehow. Before I removed him from our lives he was constantly in and out of my son's life. He would put his friends and other women first. When the state decided to take him to court for medical he complained about how he doesn't want to pay for it. Kept saying he should put my son on his medical and I told him I didn't put him on mine. The state did once I had him. I'm the custodial parent. He lives with me. He said I should have lied and said he was still living with us. Told him I wasn't about to commit insurance fraud and get hit with either jail time or a hefty fine all because he doesn't want to have to pay. He doesn't want to have to pay me child support so he's looking to get on disability. I was told if he does there's a chance I may get money for my son or I might end up with nothing for him. All he wants is the title of being a dad but with none of the responsibilities. His mother said to me at court that he misses my son terribly and is depressed about not seeing him. But yet he won't do anything to change. He can't be bothered. He doesn't check up on my son to see how he's doing or see what's new with him. He makes no effort at all. It's like they all expect me to accept that this is how he is. I'm sorry but my son deserves better and I do too. I tried and tried to make things work for the sake of my child. Gave him so many chances. Sadly it took me so long to finally let go and cut him out of our lives. I had so many people telling me to cut him out but it was just one of those things where I needed to come to that realization on my own. Can't make someone to want to be involved and change if they truly don't want to.
