Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.
I fell pregnant with someone I didn't know very well, we both decided to keep the baby, but from 12 weeks he turned into a really horrible person, and now I'm 18 weeks pregnant ready to raise my baby alone, as well as taking care of my 5 year old son from a previous relationship.
If I had know the father of my unborn child was capable of such bad behavior with no real concern for anyone, I'm unsure if I would have kept the baby when I found out at 4 weeks.
At this very moment I can feel my unborn son wriggling around in my tummy and I feel such love for him already. Being a mother is a lovely experience and you won't find love like it.
You still have time to decide what is best for you going forward, but do what you feel is right and don't let some immature man cloud your judgement, because you will need to live with your decision forever.
Sending love and hugs, Lisa xxxx
In spite of that, I can say that keeping my little critter was the best decision I ever made. He is about 4 months now and the most amazing thing. You will not regret your decision. There will never be the 'what if' questions lingering if you had chosen differently. You are never alone. You would be amazed at the people who come out of the woodworks and are supportive-- whether they are family and old friends or new friends you make along this path. I met a great group of new moms going to a birth class and we have turned into a support group for each other. There are so many wonders out there for you. Stay strong, you are blessed with this little being.
