Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.

I' brand new to this group and the online support thing in general . I have a little bit of social anxiety and it is really hard making new friends. Most of the people I used to hang out with are in a completey different stage of their lives. They don't make plans ahead of time, they don't do many kid friendly activities and most of the time I find myself shaking my head at them because of the life decisions they make. I tried looking at online groups for single parents who meet up and their are no local ones that are active. I pretty much work and spend time with my parents, sister and son and it cam be very lonely. What do I do? I've been let down by so many people in the past and I feel defeated.
So, I started being more social with other parents at kid friendly events. Starting random conversations and sharing parenting stories. I made new friends to hang out with and didn't have to worry about disappointing them or explaining why I couldn't do things. That might work for you, if you are willing to open yourself up to meeting new people. Hopefully your current friends will come aboard sooner than later.
