Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.
My son's father goes out of his way to make my life as hard as he possibly can. He harasses me constantly, texts me all the time, calls obsessively, etc. He is a very unstable person. He is always drinking (he used to do it around our son when we were together) and he even had a drunk driving episode recently where he wrecked his car. (I have photo evidence of this). I'm also aware that he has four pending criminal charges on his record. So what I need advice about is this... He is constantly threatening to take me to court... Says he wants 50/50 or even FULL CUSTODY. My son is exclusively breast fed and only 2 months old. I'm the only stable parent. I am terrified of him taking me to court and him actually getting what he wants. I'm living in a state of constant anxiety. Advice and kind words appreciated.
50/50 custody is possible...but giving his history, not likely.
The thing about threats is this...they tell you exactly what someone has thought about and decided NOT to do.
Because he could have just done it already.
(Remember this when you get older and you start threatening your kids for what you'll do if they don't do something...)
As far as custody goes, try to keep records of when he takes the boy, when he brings him back, if he's on time, early, late, etc.
And like I said, most that will take you to court just do it...they don't mess around with threats.
