I am new to this group and glad to have found a community of people who can understand my struggles as a single parent. I am a single mom of a 2-year-old child and this is the first time I am opening up about how difficult it is. My child's father is not in the picture, as he became abusive very early on in the pregnancy. I get no financial support from him, which makes life really quite difficult. I survive by working at night when my child is sleeping, and I don't have any help from families, babysitters, or nannies. So it's really just me and my child. I take him to toddler play groups and out to socialize with other children, but I still constantly feel like I'm not doing enough. I know my child must be able to pick up on all the stress in our household and I don't quite know what to do about that. I don't want my child to grow up in a miserable home but I often feel like that is inevitable in our circumstances. It's become so stressful my hair has started turning white, literally, and I'm only in my early 30s.
