Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.
I am a single parent of three great kids. Two boys 17 and 12. One princess that just turned 11. I was just recently diagnosed as having Vor disfunction and general anxiety disorder. I have physical pains assocated with anxiety headaches, dizziness, shoulder, and neck pain. I am doing everyting I can to get some relief. I am missing out on activites with my kids because of this. Does anyone have any experiences with the big bother or big sisters organizations?
Two of my kids were involved in BBBS, one has now graduated and one is technically still in it, though 17 and weaning himself off. BBBS is a great organization, with a limited but useful supply of various resources, and well screened volunteers that get paired up with the kids. There is usually a wait list for the children waiting to be paired up, however.
