Single Parenting Support Group
Today being raised by a single parent is not uncommon. About three in ten children live in a single parent home. The most common type of single parent home is one with only a mother. However, single father homes are the fastest growing type of family situation; 60% growth in the last ten years alone.

with that being said, my ex choose to walk out of my sons life and relinquish what little rights he did have
I have been divorced for almost 6 years and have 2 sons ages 13 & 10. My ex-husband and I have a wonderful relationship and decided on 50/50 custody. It has worked extremely well for us. I must also say that my ex and I live in the same city and school district so this does make it easier on the boys. My children have 2 homes and know that they never feel as though they are 'visiting' as they might if our arrangements were different. I would imagine that if we didn't live so close to one another that this arrangement may not work as well but I am very happy with it and believe that my children acclimated very well to their father and I not being together partly because of this custody arrangement.
Just like Kelly, they live in the same town, actually just a block away from each other, attend the same school, and feel like they have TWO homes. It really seems to be working well for them.
