Shyness Support Group
Shyness is a feeling of insecurity that certain people experience while being among others, talking with others, asking favors of others, etc. The initial cause of shyness can vary. Scientists have located some genetic data that supports the hypothesis that shyness is at least partially genetic.
I learned early that if I smiled at people it put them at ease quickly, even though I wanted to run an hide in a social situation. I had to make an effort to make myself more approachable. Hard to do, not letting my insecurities show.
"I'd suggest working on amplifying your best traits." Good advice.
It definitely provides a different perspective on social matters.
That article made a whole lot of sense. Especially how people with low self-esteem may have 'inaccurate perceptions of reality.' That's something I can deeply relate to. My own negative self talks happen every single day. And I tell myself I shouldn't believe in the things I believe about myself.
It's not so easy to just turn off.
