Shyness Support Group
Shyness is a feeling of insecurity that certain people experience while being among others, talking with others, asking favors of others, etc. The initial cause of shyness can vary. Scientists have located some genetic data that supports the hypothesis that shyness is at least partially genetic.
2nd Beef (then I'll stop for a while) The way kids dress these days!!!I won't say anymore except. Parents are even letting their little tiny 4 & 5 & 6 year old girls dress like little sluts and they wonder why they are kidnapped and molested1!!!!! It infuriates me!! And they are left alone in the stores ALL the time...usually in the toy isle so mom can have some piece and quiet while she shops!!!
sorry Beaumont...I told you you picked a sore spot topic with me! :) And I haven't really gotten to the manners part yet.
I'm originally from TN, that's where all the rednecks are from :) and they have more manners there!
I'm used to everyone waving and smiling to each other and being super friendly.
When I travel, I can usually tell who the Texans are- cause they are the ones who don't look totally shocked when my dad smiles and waves, "Howdy!"
You know it just little things that make a big impact on being nice & polite but in todays society its become all about ME ME ME and who you can sue to make some easy money. I'm really tired of it all! i could go on and on, but I won't, no more posts for me cause I wouldn't stop.
I don't think all anchors are glib.(just some) I think anchors have to switch
gracefully from topic to topic. A skillfully pleasant demeanor helps.
I have an extensive and voluble vocabulary but I will curse a blue streak when really pissed. Or occassionally as emphasis such as in the classic "Frankly my dear, I don't give a -"
Coursening is a relevant term. It implies comparrison. Should I compare it with the Middle Ages? With the Canterbury Tales? Or should I compare it with refinment? Have you never sat and eaten in front of your T.V. Sir?
P.S. Oh I did forget the lack of medicine, maybe I was born in the right century; but I do with people were more respectful to one another and i think manners are becoming a think of the past entirely!
And if you were born in the 1800's you wouldn't have the right to vote, not wear anything less than 6 petticoats....
Could you really be preferring a time from a more recent generation, like when when you were a child? I'm always fascinated by questions of sociology! (which is really what it is)In college I was taught that people are more comfortable when they know "the rules" socially. Social rules were better defined in previous generations, especially prior to the 1960's.
Interestingly each generation tends to look back at a previous as their ideal of a Golden Age. Almost no one will see social behaviors as improving.
I hadn't mentioned any modern technology but sure, they do have advantages.
And yeah, it does seem that way, that society is becoming more self-centered. I was just questioning whether it was actually true.
I think about how many times I've formed a misimpression of people- and how many times people here in the community have written about other others mistook their shyness for snobbery.
