Oniomania (also known as shopping addiction), is the compulsive desire to shop. Similar to other compulsive behaviors, sufferers often experience the highs and lows associated with addiction. The purchase generates a mood of satisfaction, gives their life meaning, and lets them forget about their sorrows.

I am in the same boat! Shopping addition. I just got on here because I NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE who knows what I'm going through and UNDERSTANDS....and I find that people who don't have oniomania (shopping addiction), don't understand where I'm coming from. would love to talk if you want to. Hi,
I replied to you under your reply to my post...and kept checking for a reply. Then it dawned on me that maybe I needed to reply under your post???
I had hoped this site would be helpful, that I would find people to talk to, but it seems like no one comes on here any more.....Or is it just me not knowing how to work this site?
and I find myself also asking: IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE????

I’m just starting. I realized earlier this year. Tried some things but keep failing. Had a hard time finding online support. I’ve decided to call mental health on Monday. I have support but don’t want to keep sabotaging my life and that of my family, our security, etc. I hope I can fix this. I read CBT is what works best and meds used for depression, which I have been on for years, I have a great psychiatrist so I guess I need to confess to him too, I feel so much shame.
