Herpes zoster, colloquially known as shingles, is the reactivation of varicella zoster virus, leading to a crop of painful blisters over the area of a dermatome. It occurs very rarely in children and adults, but its incidence is high in the elderly (over 60), as well as in any age group of immunocompromised patients.
My goodness, you are having a difficult time. It does sound like your case of Shingles is more agonizing than most. But, never give up hope! Remember that statistics are on your side, in that almost everyone comes to complete recovery with a years time. Just keep focusing on that. In the meantime, make sure you're doing all the right things that will aid in your recovery. That means, getting plenty of extra rest and a healthy nutritious diet. And stay away from situations that may cause stress. I wish I had a magic solution, but the best I can say is that time is on your side, and we in this support group are on your side too!
