I've been dealing with herpes for almost 3 years. I was in a relationship with a good guy who had no problem with it. He was soooo supportive and protective of me with this situation. I felt comfortable and safe, given the fact that I contracted it under a very bad situation prior to meeting him. Now that we are not dating anymore, I feel like I can't move forward. I haven't told any of my family and I feel so depressed. I have to put on a smiling face in front of people but I dying inside. It's consistently on my mind. I have become soooo emotional. I'm crying at the drop of a hat. My family and friends keep asking why I'm not dating or why my friendships with guys never go further. I once felt empowered to say it but now I can't get the words out of my mouth. I feel sooo ashamed and disappointed in myself. I really want to move forward but I feel like I'm in quicksand. I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do.
I think you should try to tell someone, and explain what it is doing to you mentally, because the stigma is so unbearable to handle alone. I am here for you if you ever want to talk.
