Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are diseases or infections that have a significant probability of transmission between humans by means of sexual contact. This community is devoted to helping any women seeking support with STDs, whether you have one or you know someone else who does.
There is no test for HPV in men unless he has symptoms. Unless he shows symptoms, there is no way to know if he has the virus. He should go in for full testing anyway! Don't worry about his reaction right now. You did what you needed to do by informing him that he may have been exposed. Now his actions are up to him. Just do what you can to care for yourself!
While using a condom is always a good idea, it will not totally protect you from HPV or HSV. Both of these viruses are spread by skin to skin contact. Since a condom does not cover the entire area,(any part of the body covered by a pair of boxer shorts) you can still spread it.
Do not beat yourself up! 80% of women catch HPV at some point. If that is what you have, then you are in very good company!
