I just got diagnosed with HPV. My boyfriend was emotionally abusive and I'm glad to be rid of him once and for all. But I did not talk to anyone about sex risks- I grew up in a christian community that would not talk about it. How do I stop the tears?

I was diagnosed about 7 months ago with high risk HPV. I, just like you grew up in a christian home and I grew up knowing right from wron(premarital sex is a sin). I was devastated when I found out and now I have to just cope with it. I got this for a reason. I cried and cried, and cried. God is very merciful and I know he has the power to stop all of this at an instant. I regret my decisions but I know that he still loves me. The intitial shock was a hard pill to swallow, but after coming to grips with this, and realizing how common it really is...I have decided to not let this determine who I really am. Continue to follow up with your doctor to make sure you are taken care of. I am always here to lend a helping hand, day or night.

your not a bad person, HPV is the most commen STD out there today, thats why they are pushing that vaccine for the young girls now. it won't ruin your life, just inconveniance it a little. you will just have to make sure you use a condom EVERY TIME from now on. and let your partner know whats going on, trust me, they will be more appreciative than you think.

oh also, one thing i just learned, watch your ciggerette and alchohol consumption, hpv is at high risk for oral cancer as well as cervical cancer. make sure you see your dentist and gynocologist regularly.

Thanks everyone. Turns out the other tests came back negative but they did not do a pap for some reason so I will not know for a while. I am no longer worried and I no longer think anyone that has HPV is a bad person or anyother STD for that matter. HPV is really common.
