I saw my pdoc recently and he thinks it's best to move forward (away from the SA discussions). So do I, since all those seem to do is trigger PTSD symptoms.
So we were talking about how I'm an underachiever. It's true. I've accomplished a LOT in my life ... but I always seem to turn my back, on whatever course I'm on, just before I get too successful.
He thinks this is due to the physical abuse I suffered at the hands of my mother, not the SA from my abuser.
Honestly, I'd never considered "blaming" anyone other than myself for my inability to own and enjoy my successes.
So, this brings me to my question. Does anyone else sabatoge themselves when it comes to being personally & financially successful? If so, why do you think you do it?

as far a being at this site, you need to decide for yourself. I can see your counselors point of view. this is an uncontrolled approach to self therepy and not every one is ready for. I have had a very difficult time absorbing all of this but it has help a lot.

my friends just take me as flaky and happy go lucky with a sever emo streak.
i am also dealing with physical abuse from my mother as well as emotional
i honestly don't trust myself enough to do anything too important. financially i have reasons other then myself to consider now,...so i'm motivated.
