Hi....My name is zach, uhm. I am unsure how to go about this I am scared almost to tears to be typing about this but I'll never get over it if I don't. My stepdad who is gone now, used to abuse me. Physically, verbally and...sexually. I didn't realize it at first when I was little around the ages of 7-11 before I had hit puberty. He used to do things like bite my ear and pinch my privates til i couldnt take it. He had me show my rear end to him after baths and, at times crawl into bed with me when he was drunk....and by drunk he would drink 24-30 beers a night. He has done worse but I'd rather talk about those in private with someone. I am sorry if I have done wrong typing this....and sorry. I tend to apologize alot...I just am a nervous wreck I have been for a long time....

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

Looking at your profile it says you are now in your early 20's. Are you able to work with a therapist? Sometimes they can be quite expensive or, in some cases, people live so remotely that there are simply none around. But, if you can work with a therapist I highly recommend it. You can heal from what happened and you deserve to heal. If you are unable to work with a therapist then please do keep coming here and talking with us. We do understand and we care.
I am very sorry to hear about what you experienced. As for not being able to afford therapy, do you have insurance? If not, can you get Medicaid? Not sure where you are located. Perhaps there are clinics that take Medicaid if you can apply and get therapy for yourself. I hope this helps. You are not alone, we are all here for you.
