One of the girls in my speech class is doing a speech on rape and three of my classmates were discussing rape, sexual abuse, and abortion in English. In English we had to write our own A Modest Proposal. one of 6hem gave the ridiculous solution of having everyone raped at 12 or 15 years old. 


I ended up going to the bathroom and crying. I'm still thinking about it because the speeches are going to be on Monday I think. 


I keep getting teary eyed and sucked into the black hole of my mind when ever someone says rape or abuse or sexual abuse/assault. 


I hate how I start to tear up and get choked up and start to shiver and shake a bit.

You know, if something makes you truly uncomfortable, you don't have to stay in the room. You can leave for a while and collect yourself. You deserve to feel safe in an educational environment and if something is too much for you, you're not obligated to stay. An acquaintance of mine had a breakdown and was subsequently placed on suicide watch after she was forced to give a presentation in college. After that, she was never required to do it again.

Your teachers/professors will make accommodations if you explain the situation to them. You don't even have to be specific, you can just explain that you're struggling and you need to opt out of a certain lecture or what have you.

Please take care of yourself because your health is worth a lot.
