so, we are moving into a neighborhood with two registered sex offenders within two blocks. the town is pretty small so it's hard to avoid them. question is, why are they there in the first place? according to the department of corrections, neither of them is from illinois. one is from virginia and the other is from indiana. they have no link to this town so what put them here. answer, the government! sooooo....my question to you is, (keep in mind my hubby is a police officer) if this was your situation, what would you do to let them know you are onto them and to STAY AWAY FROM YOUR BLOCK, YOUR KIDS, YOU! how would you do it? i want them to know i am strong willed and not afraid of them! i will do everything in my legal power to keep them away! one is selling his house and moving away! thank you i say to him. move away to a field and live with the mice for the rest of your years for all i care. the other is still a block away.
any advice.

The weeks seem to fly by!Happy Saturday to everyoneI hope that the weekend brings some chill time and barbecuesDoes it take others what seems like forever to add a comment on the boards?I'm okay everywhere else except boards..Everywhere else adds normally but it's annoyingly slow!Have a great Saturday and do something nice for you!!Big hug...xo

And as for why they're there, I doubt we'll never know. I have no idea why on earth these guys seem to pop up wherever they want to. I wish there were more laws regarding sex offenders and where they're allowed to live.
I wish I could offer you more help, but I'm not sure what else to tell you. I think your strong willed attitude towards the safety of yourself and your children are really going to take care of you here.
You'll be in my prayers, friend. BIG hug and lots of love!
Glad the one is moving!
IDK about confronting them. I can understand you wanting to confront them and show them YOU are in Power and Control...but what if it would backfire, and make something 'click' in the offender's brain??
I think it's good security your DH is a police officer.
I'd tell your kids to stay away from him and that house. Show them his picture. Tell them to notify you if he approaches them, or any other stranger for that matter.
I teach my kids we do not tell or keep secrets. If anyone tells you to keep a secret, you tell Mommy and/or Daddy. No matter if they threaten to hurt you or hurt Mommy or Daddy, no one can hurt you if you tell, we'll protect them.
The info. is public, including the offenses. Keep your kids away, that's what I would do. I don't believe in public "lynchings" so to speak, but that's just me. Maybe because of the history of past generations in my families....:-P Use your LEGAL power like you said and good luck!
Also, there's probably far more than 2 offenders in your area. Most have not been caught, and aren't on any registry.
As for what to do, DON'T be confrontational or go vigilante', that could get you in trouble.
Your best bet is, to let your kids know to stay far away from that address, and otherwise ignore them.
Exactly!
