Hi was sexually abused in foster care It was horrrible the foster dad would do sexual things with the girls but not the boys. He would make us do stuff that I can't even talk about It was horrible. I still have problems because of the abuse.

I am so sorry. Do you have a counselor? Trauma such as this requires intense professional intervention. Otherwise the flashbacks and nightmares become too much to handle. Good luck. hugs

no I went to a counselor? but I never talked to them about my sexual abuse

Welcome to the group. This is a good place to talk about what has happened to you and ask questions of the rest of us. Many of us still have problems because of our abuse. I know I do. Depression is the worse part for me. I constanly think I am worthless and should be dead so no one has to put up with me. That is just one of the many things i go through. I am 47 and am just beginning my healing journey. Began counseling a few months ago. I agree with Kuehic about therapy. You need to go. Don't wory about what other people think. You need to do what is best for you. Flashbacks suck. Just know this group is here to help. Let us help with you healing journey

I do agree that you need to do what is best for you.. For many people that is therapy, but for others it's not. I went to counselling and made no progress because I couldn't even open up to her about my abuse. For me, the most therapeutic was the trial. I needed some anti-anxiety meds for a few months to get me through, otherwise I was having panic attacks at the thought of facing him in court, but I was able to go off of them and learn to manage my anxiety a few months later. I in no way intend to steer you away from therapy if that's what will work, but I just want you to know that if it's not working for you - you aren't alone. I just needed a lot of time. I spent years just working through it on my own, I also have a very supportive husband who would stay calm in the eye of my self loathing storm.

I am extremely sorry that you had to go through this horrible experience. There are lots of us here willing to lend an ear if you ever need/want to talk. I wish you good luck in your healing journey!

I have thought about going back to where the abuse took place But my foster parents said that it might not be a good idea I want them to see that what they did to me really hurt me and my future. I hate my foster parents I wish they were behind bars
