nightmares with everyone but....

I'm just wondering why I have the nightmares I have with all kinds of men that wern't my abusers. I was abused by my grandfather and you know the crap you take from being with the wrong men or wrong crowd. But I rarely have nightmares about my grandpa but instead have sexual abuse dreams or incest dreams with everyone I have ever seen practically except my grandpa? Does any one think they know what is up with that?

it's the mind's way to protect yourself from men. you see every man as a threat. the mind is powerful. write out a letter to your grandpa as if he was alive venting out your anger. when we keep it all in and protect the family from the horrible secret, we are doing ourselves an injustice. Of course no one wants to talk about it, especially the family. it's such taboo and shameful. then we are left to carry it all when it wasn't even our fault. love the sinner, hate the sin for so many sinners out there doing this to kids! pisses me off that it screws up our lives, our self worth, self confidence, trust, etc. often we don't stand up against our abusers and let them know what they did to us was horrible and scars us for life.
they need to know. write that letter, shout it out so you can hear your anger, cry, and then say - I'm not going to allow you to rob me of my happiness and security anymore... you won't forget and you may not completely forgive, but getting out your anger is the first step... be patient with yourself and mindful of your needs everyday!

Nightmares can sometimes be your mind's way of expressing the abuse. It's one of the main symptoms of PTSD. Are you seeing a counselor? That helped me work through a lot and I haven't had nightmares for a while.

No Im not seeing anyone but need to. I made an appointment with a psyciatrist for an assessment and then hopefully after that I will start seeing a counselor.
