hi all. I'm new to this site (first post). Background to start I guess. I was sexually abused by the girl next door who was my babysitter. It was a everyday thing from 5-6 years old. Then again by another woman whom I didn't know but in the same time frame. I kept that a secret for 30 years before it came vomiting out a year ago. I'm struggling with the aftermath of that abuse. Sexually addicted. No self esteem. All the things that come with it. Guess I'm looking for suggestions on things to read or research to figure out how to recover. I see a therapist on my own and me and my wife are in marriage counseling.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

Many people have found "Courage to Heal" a good place to start with healing from sexual abuse. I didn't get that much out of it but maybe I wasn't ready then. Also, it is pretty female-oriented.
The book I am slowly making my way through right now is "Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors" by Janina Fisher. I am not sure that's a good place to begin but you might want to get there eventually because I believe that she above all others I've read understands the roadmap to healing.
DonnaWanda has mentioned some great resources. I read The Courage To Heal and did connect with it. I read it early in my healing when I was just starting to remember the abuse so it helped me to not feel so alone. It is female oriented as Donna said but you may still get something from it.
