I mentioned on the PTSD board that I have been having a lot of nightmares. Like a lot of my dreams they are pretty jumbled and I don't always remember them well or maybe they are just not coherent.

One thing they seem to have in common lately is that there are loud. Yes, LOUD. It is like I am being shouted at by throngs of raised voices. I try to wake up but I can't. After several minutes I manage to orientate myself and it feels like I have just stepped out of a crowded nightclub or loud party. Then comes the minute of feeling scared. Weird...just weird.

Hi. I have had loud dreams before too. They are very disturbing. Mine took place in my childhood home and there was a war going on around me. I'm talking all out war - like Vietnam. Bombs going off, grenades being thrown and gun shots everywhere. They were very loud. It's as if our sub-conscious thinks we can't hear it. I feel for you because it's so disturbing to have dreams like that.

The war in my dream represented my home life and how it appeared to me as a child. Can you remember a time when people, lots of people, raised their voices around you? Was there a lot of fighting in your home? They may not have been shouting at you. They may have been shouting at each other instead and you were caught in it. You don't have to answer me, just some ideas for you to think about.

Yes, there was yelling, crashing, fighting and gunshots at home.

Last night my tormentors were gathered around shouting at me about how much of a loser I am. I really wish they would STFU.

I've had dreams like that.They were pretty bad until I dreamed that I shouted back, and everyone else shut up.Weirdly enough that seemed almost scarier.I've tried some you tube vids for lucid dreaming, and sometimes it worked. I would just get up, look around and find a really pleasant place in my dream.I don't remember every bit, but I woke up rested a few times which was a new experience for me.Mostly it helped me fall asleep too.Have you tried prezocin for PTSD (against dreaming)? It might give you a break from dreams for a while.
