Sexual Abuse Support Group
Sexual abuse is a relative cultural term used to describe sexual relations and behavior between two or more parties which are considered criminally and/or morally offensive. Different types of sexual abuse involve: Non-consensual, forced physical sexual behavior such as rape, incest or sexual assault, or psychological forms of abuse, such as verbal sexual behavior or...
A "friend" of mine aggressively pursued me and took to sexual abuse when I did not show intrest in him. I tried to talk to him and work it out a few times because we had been friends for several years and I thought I could fix it but he didn't stop. I stopped taking to him for a few months but unfortunately let him back in my life and he continued to sexually abuse me. It sounds crazy but I just got used to it. He did it so often, and in such a way, that it became normal. I felt like I couldn't tell anyone and didn't want to change my behavior too much in fear that someone might find out. I'm not proud of it, but that's what happened. It got to the point that I not only got used to it, but welcomed it. He is not a good person, he is not a good friend or father (not my kids thank God) or a good son and I know all of this but I'm still with him and I'm attached despite knowing all of this. I'm not proud of my situation. I'm seeing a therapist to help me brake the attachment but it has not been helpful. This is way more complex than I'm making it out to be, but for the sake of expediency I have shared only the biggest of details. I am lost, I am sad, and I am broken.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

You call yourself "Mrs. Stockholm" so I guess you're thinking that Stockholm Syndrome plays a role in your situation?
What I'm wondering is, is this situation a replay of something that happened earlier in your life? At what point in your life did you learn that you had to accept abuse - or that sex means abuse - and that you could not remove yourself from the situation? I am wondering if there is a part of you that's trying to work out an earlier situation through this man, or perhaps believes things that might have felt true in the past in relation to another situation but are not true now.
Why are you not able to walk away? Is there something about this situation that you find irresistably compelling? Do you not feel entitled to walk away? Are you too ashamed?
This situation could actually be an opportunity for deep healing of unresolved issues.
