I just watched a show about parenthood.. well it's actually called Parenthood. This great husband and loving father is in the music business and anyway he tries to help out this BEAUTIFUL young girl.. I mean gorgeous and she kisses him. Now he has to go tell his wife who he left in a crisis to go to the office for a surprise celebration.

This reminded me of when my ex when we were in love at my friends house this girl Gloriana was there who was just like the girl in the show... unbelievably gorgeous. They flirted in front of my face. She went out to have a cigarette, he said he wanted to get something in my car (yeah right) and they came back 15 minutes later....

Sting of pain and jealousy.. and betrayal.

Other than the two boyfriends who did me wrong... there's the rape. The 1, 2 , 3, 4 however many times it happened.

Then there's the daddy issues x2. The father and the stepfather.

I'm a mess! How am I ever going to be happily in a healthy relationship?

I feel like it's never going to happen....

I also have trouble trusting men. What helps me is that I had a male therapist for a long time, who was very trustworthy. From that, i can have the view to take men as individuals because some are good, and some not so.

That's very insightful. I just ended therapy with my old therapist and am looking for a new one in the same office. There are men there but I requested no male therapists because I thought it would be uncomfortable with my topics.... But maybe it could be a good thing like you said.

I think it takes time. Healing. Allowing yourself to trust again. And, not just any guy. But someone you know has your best interest at heart. But life is what it is...anytime we get close to someone there will always be a chance of getting hurt. Sometimes we just have to believe and take a leap of faith. As hard as that may be sometimes.

For me, it was a matter of reprogramming myself. It takes time to learn to trust and communicate non-violently. Counselors make great "role models" to assist us in transition of healing our wounded inner dialogue. Being pried upon in my childhood also kept me from trusting people in my past. I slowly developed trust and learned not every guy with the name of blah, or blah was a child molester. I believe you do the necessary healing work to contain your trauma and you'll meet the right person.

I totally get it...

My abuser was female so I don't trust females easily.

Even now I gravitate toward male friendships over female friendships, male relationships over female relationships...

And groups of females scare me to no end... But I won't go there!

However my current therapist is female. She triggers me, but also gives me space when I need it and is respectful of my trust issues.
